Wines
2010 Cabernet Merlot
Winemaker's Notes
Deep purple red with a dark cherry core leads to an aroma of dark cherry and mocha fruits layered over fine vanillin oak. The palate is ripe and generous, yet retains the classical aspects of Margaret River with savoury flavours of plum and spice leading to a generous mouth filling middle palate with fine grained tannins to finish.
Vintage Notes
After a fine spring and early onset of summer, the 2010 vintage in Margaret River was relatively free of weather issues. The vintage was a little atypical with a prolonged run of warm temperatures right through the harvest window – what ensued was a very intensive harvest period during mid-March and into early April. All in all, it was a fine vintage.
Vineyard Notes
Our vineyards are in northern Margaret River with soils of mostly fine clay loams over ironstone. All vines are vertically shoot positioned and run in north south aspect.
Vinification Notes
All grapes were harvested at optimum maturity and each parcel was fermented and assessed separately, selected for oak maturation and matured with a mixture of French and American oak for 12 months.
