Wines
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker's Notes
A striking deep purple red colour leads to an aroma of blackcurrant layered over fine vanillin oak. The palate is fine, ripe and generous and shows classical aspects of Margaret River cabernet flavours leading to a mouth filling middle palate with fine grained tannins to finish.
Vintage Notes
After a fine spring and early onset of summer, the 2010 vintage in Margaret River was relatively free of weather issues. The vintage was a little atypical with a prolonged run of warm temperatures right through the harvest window for aromatic whites – what ensued was a very intensive harvest period during mid-March and into early April, although by that time all whites were off the vine and early reds were just beginning . All in all, it was a fine vintage.
Vineyard Notes
Our vineyards are in northern Margaret River with soils of mostly fine clay loams over ironstone. All vines are vertically shoot positioned and run in north south aspect.
Vinification Notes
All grapes were harvested at optimum maturity and each parcel was fermented and assessed separately, selected for oak maturation in French oak barriques until just prior to bottling.
