2010 Single Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Makers Notes
This is a deep coloured and dark fruited wine which will require some medium term bottle maturation to see its potential and a full expression of the single vineyard site from where we draw our fruit. Deep and rich tannins are indicative of low cropped balanced vines and will support the wine for some years to come.
Vintage Notes
After a fine spring and early summer onset vintage ’10 in Margaret River was very warm and dry. A huge storm cell which swept down the coast mid-vintage and causing widespread damage missed the region by kilometres. A very hot mid vintage was followed by cooler weather but relented to a remarkably prolonged Indian summer into mid-late April.
Vineyard Notes
Drawn from our best site in the very north of Margaret River, consisting of fine gravels over ironstone and deeper schists. Lyre trellis and hand picked thirty year old vines.
Vinification Notes
Hand plunged in open cap fermenters. Part barrel fermented and MLF completed in oak. New oak ~ 35% French tight grained, centre of France. Sterile filtered to bottle.
