2012 Single Vineyard Estate Chardonnay

Makers Notes

Pale straw with green tinges. A fine aromatic Chardonnay aroma balanced with some fresh oak. The palate is long, not yet overtly complex - this will benefit from some bottle development, but with tremendous length of flavour and persistence.

Vintage Notes

The 2012 growing season was dominated by a succession of warm fronts post new year. Fortunately this was preceded by a good winter and spring giving rise to good canopy development and soil moisture levels. The vintage was fairly early as the previous two vintages.

Vinification Notes

The fruit was hand-picked and chilled overnight prior to whole bunch pressing at a moderate rate of extraction. The juice was settled 24 hours and racked to ferment, and half run to new French oak at mid ferment, the balance remaining in steel for the whole maturation of the wine with no malolactic ferment. After assessment, the wine was reassembled, lightly fined and bottled.
