Bright pale straw with some green tinges. A nice lifted
Chardonnay aroma with stone fruit, citrus blossom and some fresh oak. The
palate is fine and complex with initial fruit forward flavours of nectarine
with subtle vanillin oak in the background. Good depth of flavour and body with
persistent crisp finish. Has good ageing potential, will build complexity.
The 2012 growing season was dominated by a succession of warm fronts which swept over the southwest in the new year, however, some good spring rains left the soil moistures sufficient to carry through and in the end a good year for Chardonnay.
Drawn exclusively from the Clearwater vineyard, on a fine north sloped
aspect in Jindong, Margaret River. Soils are gravels in a fine loamy mix and a
simple low vigour vertical trellis.
Cold harvested and pressed, the juice was
fermented in oak and stainless steel, reassembled, fined and bottled.
