Deep red purple, medium intensity. Lifted spice and white pepper over ripe blackberry fruits. A seam of vanillin oak sits in the background. Elegant and smooth, with assertive yet soft tannins over richly flavoured middle palate and a long spicy finish.
The 2011 vintage was characterised by a dry winter and spring combined with warmer than average temperatures during the ripening season, leading to the earliest vintage on record, even surpassing 2007. Reds are highly coloured, juicy and really deliver. It may be a classic vintage, however, it is absolutely outside living experience, yet the signs are indeed promising. We are very happy indeed with the outcome with full flavoursome whites and fine vibrant and tannin ripe reds.
Our vineyards are in northern Margaret River with soils consisting of fine clay loams over ironstone and deeper schist from northern Margaret River. All vines are vertically shoot positioned and run in north south aspect
All grapes were harvested at optimum maturity and each parcel was fermented and assessed separately, selected for oak maturation and matured with a mixture of French and American oak.
