Wines
2011 Single Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Makers Notes
Extraordinary deep red purple colour with a lifted bouquet of ripe, powerful Cabernet fruit. The palate is equal to the job, with pronounced ripe fruit and big middle palate tannins and miles and miles of persistence to finish. The wine will see some considerable bottle age without any regrets from those with patience - a classic.
Vintage Notes
The 2011 vintage has been characterised by dry winter and spring conditions combined with warmer than average temperatures during the ripening season. An exceptionally long Indian summer has led to the earliest vintage on record. Whites were harvested at optimum ripeness and have very good flavour and finesse. Reds are highly coloured and flavoursome and should be classic in style and great quality.
Vineyard Notes
Drawn from our best site in the very north of Margaret River, consisting of fine gravels over ironstone and deeper schists. Lyre trellis and hand picked thirty year old vines.
Vinification Notes
Hand plunged in open cap fermenters. Part barrel fermented and MLF completed in oak. New oak ~ 35% French tight grained, centre of France. Sterile filtered to bottle.
